Hajj 2020 is inshallah coming at the end of July or at the start of August. Those who want to perform Hajj Tamattu, reach Makkah a few days before Hajj and perform Umrah and remove their ihram. Here is the step by step performance of Hajj 2020.
SIX DAYS OF HAJJ 2020:
1st day of Hajj (The day of reflection) :
Day one is known as Yawm at Tarwiyah, It’s on the 8th of Dhu’l Hajj. On this day Pilgrims required to take a bath and clean themselves, wear the Ihram grab again with the due intention of performing Hajj and entered the scared Mosque with the repeated recitation of Talbiyyah.
Talbiyyah is the pilgrim’s response to Allah’s call. So, the pilgrim says:
The pilgrims leave for Mina early in the morning from Makkah and should reach there before Zuhr prayer. Mina is an open ground valley three miles to the east of Makkah. Three stone pillars known as Jamarat are situated here. Pilgrims recited the Talbiyyah repeatedly during the Hajj until they have thrown the pebbles at Aqaba.
The prayers of Aser, Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr are to be performed at Mina. According to Sunnah, each prayer is to be performed in a shortened form (qasr) without combining them, with the exception of the Maghreb and Fajr prayers, which cannot be shortened. This day is known as Yawm at Tarwaiyh and the day of reflection.
2nd day of Hajj (The day of standing):
Day two of hajj is known as Yawm al-Waquf . It’s on the 9th day of Dhul Hajj. On this day after the sunrise, the pilgrims proceed from Mina to Arafat (Arafah means to recognize and know each other).
According to the tradition of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), they should stay at Namirah until the declination of the sun at midday.
It was the plain of Arafat where Hazrat Adam (A.S) and Hazrat Hawwa (A.S) met each other for the first time on the earth after their descent from Paradise. There the pilgrims offer the Zuhr and Asr prayers combined under the single Adhan with two separate Iqamahs and its Sunnah to listen to the Sermon.
On the plain of Arafat, the pilgrims stand until the sunset, praying with devotion and asking Allah’s forgiveness. The 2nd day is called Yawm al waquf or the day of standing. It is preferred to offer the Talbiyyah, pray for forgiveness and Supplications while standing under the sun.
The stay on the 9th day of Dhul_Hajj is obligatory without which Hajj is incomplete. The pilgrims leave the Arfat after the sunset.
3rd day of Hajj (day of sacrifice):
The day three of the hajj is known as Yawm al Nahar or in other words Day of Sacrifice. On the 10th of Dhul Hajj, After the dawn when the light of the day widespread and before sunrise. The pilgrims proceed to Mina, reciting Talbiyah through their walk. When they reach Mina, they are supposed to interrupt Talibyah at Jamrat Al Aqaba.
At Jamrat Al Aqaba pilgrims are required to through seven pebbles, one after another. They should raise their hands while throwing each pebble and recite Allah o Akbar. It is preferred to through the pebbles from the bottom of the valley standing, with Kabah to their left and Mina to their right, as the Prophet (PBUH) did the same. This is called rami al-Jamarat.
The Jamarat are stone pillars that stand as symbols for Shaytan (Satan). Therefore the pilgrims can sacrifice their “Hadi” by reciting “ Bismillah’Wallahu Akbar. The Sunnah is to slaughter a camel while it is standing with its leg fettered and to slaughter a cow or sheep while it is lying on its left side.
It is recommended thereafter the pilgrim should drink water from the ZamZam and to make supplications as Abu Zarr reports that the Holy Prophet (PBUH)said about ZamZam’s water:
“it is a savory food”. According to Abu Dawud, the messenger of Allah said ZamZam water is the cure of sickness”.
After Tawaf Al-Ifadah the pilgrims return to Mina where they spend three days, including the nights. There they throw stones at three Jamarat after the declination of the sun at midday on each of the three days. But if anyone wants to leave in two days, there is no blame on him or her. May God accept Hajj 2020 and make it a source of forgiveness for all the pilgrims.
