1:The Religious importance of Hajj
The foundation of Islam is based on five pillars. The most important duty of every Muslim who is eligible for the holy pilgrimage is to perform hajj. Hajj is only obligatory once in the lifetime of a Muslim in respect of health and monetary aspects. Hajj is the main pillar of Islam is the Muslim solidary towards ALLAH (SWT). Hajj is the means of representation for the follow Muslimas to realize their equality in the eyes of Allah.
Importance of hajj in the light of Quran:
The first house of worship appointed for mankind is that Bacca(Makkah), a place and source of guidance to the people( Al-Quran)
Hajj is the means of looking for mercy from Allah (SWT). Hajj remembers Muslims the sacrifices made by Hazrat Ibrahim made in the name of Islam.
The pilgrims read the following before or during the Hajj.
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٍ . اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ فِي قَلْبِي نُورَاً وَفِي سَمْعِي نُورَاً وَفِي بَصَرِي نُورَاً اللَّهُمَّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَسَاوِسِ الصُّدُورِ وَشَتَاتِ الْأَمْرِ وَفِتْنَةِ الْقَبْرِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا يَلِجُ فِي اللَّيْلِ وَشَرِّ مَا يَلِجُ فِي النَّهَارِ وَشَرِّ مَا تَهِبُّ بِهِ الرِّيَاحُ
2:Importance in the light of Hadith:
Holy Prophet (PBUH )said:
“Nothing but Paradise is the reward of an approved pilgrimage to the holy Kabah”
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said that Hajj as a supreme act of worship. It means for the believers to renew their faith in Allah. Hajj Mabrur is the Haj accepted by Allah for being performed according to Sunnah with legally earned money avoiding the sin and evils during the hajj.
Zil Hajj’s first ten days are very important. One who gets these 10 days of Dhul Hajj can reap as many rewards as possible. This is because if the first 10 days consider as jihad, then they must be special in the eyes of Allah Almighty(SWT).
Abdullah Ibn Al_Zubayr added that the Prophet (PBUH) said:
“A prayer in the Mosque Al Hurram is better than one hundred prayers in the mosque of mine”
3:The Social importance of hajj
Hajj is the largest religious gathering of Muslim from all walks of life, from all trades and classes, from every corner of the globe, Muslims gathered at Makkah in response to Allah’s call.
Hajj demonstrates the true picture of Muslim brotherhood, equality, and the universality of Islam. It is the means to get close to Muslims from other regions of the world. They get in the same simple way, follow the same regulations, and the first house of worship appointed for mankind is that Bacca (Makkah), a place and source of guidance to the people It serves as a meeting of discussing various issues of the Muslim ummah.
4:The Spirit and the importance of Hajj:
In addition to other important aspects of Hajj, the last sermon given by Holy Prophet in 632 AD over 100,000 Pilgrims at Arafat is known as the Sermon of the Farewell Hajj. On this memorable occasion, the following are important points of the spirit and significance of Hajj.
- All muslins must live with peace and patience with one another.
- All mankind is the children of Adam and Eve.
- Women have rights over men as men have rights over women.
- Usury is banned.
- All muslins must respect the rights and properties of the neighbors.
- I m leaving behind me two things, QURAN and Sunnah. If you follow these you will not stay from the right path.
- Worship Allah, be the steadfast in prayer, fast during Ramadhan, Pay Zakat to poor’s and perform Hajj.
